Programme Structure & Curriculum (Part Time)
The MAF Part-Time track is designed for working professionals who are eager to develop a profound knowledge of finance and build a network with like-minded professionals from a diverse range of academic and professional backgrounds but are not able to leave their professional responsibilities for an extended period of time.
The MAF Part-Time track is an intensive track designed to be completed in 20 months spanning over 5 terms. Class sessions are 3½ hours each per module, and are held on weekdays (7.15 p.m. to 10.45 p.m.) and Saturdays either in the morning or afternoon.
All candidates are required to complete 9 Core modules and 4 Elective modules to meet the course requirements of SMU's Master of Science in Applied Finance degree.
In addition, students must complete the SMU Postgraduate Professional Development Series (PDS) and Career Development Series (CDS). PDS is designed to build awareness and develop leadership skills that will be critical in accelerating your professional and personal growth. While the SMU MAF degree develops and equips you with academic and technical capabilities, the PDS complements your studies with development in the areas of leadership, communication and interpersonal effectiveness. CDS equips students with the career management and employment-related skills requried to enhance students' competitiveness and growth in their career pursuit.
