Application Procedure
We encourage candidates to complete their applications in earlier deadlines, as seats in the MiM programme and scholarships may be limited by Deadline 3.
We typically receive an influx of applications near deadlines. To reduce the stress of meeting our application deadlines, which includes collating relevant documents and waiting for your referee reports, we encourage you to start your application as soon as you can.
Online Application
For New Applicant
You need to first register for an account with SMU before you can submit an online application form. Click on "Create New Account" below to proceed.
For Existing Applicant
If you have already created an account with SMU, please go directly to the Login page to continue with your application.
For Existing Applicant
(Account created before 7 November 2022)
SMU has launched a new application portal on 7 November 2022. If you have already created an account with SMU before that, you can continue with your application using the Login button below.
Please note that you will be given an application number once your online application is successfully submitted. Kindly take note of this application number for future enquiry and checking of application status.
Required Documents
While filling in your application, take note that you will be required to submit the following:
- A copy of your NRIC for Singaporean Citizens; or a copy of your Passport for non-Singaporeans
- A copy of your NRIC, Passport and re-entry permit for Singaporean Permanent Residents
- Your official score reports for GMAT / GRE or SMU Admission Test score (please click here to view the SMU Admission Test Factsheet)
- TOEFL or IELTS (if your degree was not taught in English)

- Your Current CV
- Your official and certified true copies of Bachelor certificate and transcript
- 2 short essays (approximately 500-600 words each) on the following topics:
- Explain your career and personal aspirations, and your motivation for pursuing MSc. in Management (MiM) programme.
- Discuss one of the following topics:
- Describe your greatest weakness and how you have tried to overcome it.
- Describe your outstanding talents, skills and inherent abilities that are not reflected in your academic qualifications and records.
- Describe the situation with the greatest ethical complexity that you have faced in your professional or academic life, and how your input helped resolved it.
- 2 Recommendation Forms/Referee Reports
Submit 2 complete sets of referee details during the online process of applying for the SMU MiM. The application portal will automatically send an email to your referees and collect your recommendation forms on your behalf once you have submitted the application. - Proof of payment by credit card form or check/money order of SGD $100 (Online Application Fee)
- Any other supporting documents
Referee Reports
Two referee reports are required for admission to the MiM programme. You are required to submit two complete sets of referee details during the online application.
These referees can be from your current or previous employer, a colleague, or someone who knows you well at work, OR from someone who has taught you at university or college.
Once you submit the online application, an auto-generated email will be sent to your referees via the email address you have entered. Your referees will then be able to click on the url in the email to fill in an online referee form for you. This will take 5-10 minutes to complete. Please ensure that your referees' email addresses are correct. Alternatively, if you have on hand a reference letter from your referees, you can also send them to us in softcopy format. In that case, you can request your referees to ignore the auto-generated email sent.
Application Fee
Applications received without the application fees will not be processed. Payment for the application fee can be made by credit card (VISA or MasterCard).
Next Steps
After completing and submitting your online application form, the next steps in your application process will be:
- Complete your Kira Talent Video Interview by following the instructions contained in your automated invite from no-reply@kiratalent.com. Learn more about this step here.
- Complete your payment for the SMU Admissions Test (if applicable), and attempt your test in accordance with the instructions supplied by the Admissions team.
- Prepare yourself for a follow-up interview with the Admissions Committee - you will be notified via email if shortlisted.
