LIM Chon Phung

LIM Chon Phung

Chon Phung boasts over three decades of experience in the IT industry, having held Senior VP positions at Oracle and VP roles at Hewlett-Packard in the Asia Pacific and Japan regions for both companies.

In 2015, he made the pivotal decision to depart from the corporate world and commit himself to his passions for research and education, embarking on a journey towards a PhD at the Singapore Management University. Upon successfully completing his doctoral studies in 2018, he assumed the role of Research Fellow at SMU. He contributed to two research projects. The first aimed to gain insights into the constraints faced by early-stage entrepreneurs and the necessary capabilities to scale their companies. The second focused on developing a framework for SMEs to cultivate an innovate mindset and enhance the adoption of open innovations. Additionally, he contributed to several case studies exploring how SMEs integrate open innovation for sustainable growth and co-authored two academic papers.

Currently serving as an Executive-In-Residence at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Chon-Phung is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Singapore Institute of Technology.  Beyond academia, he is extensively engaged as an angel investor, advisor, and board member for numerous startups across the region.

Chon Phung leverages nearly four decades of leadership and operational expertise in business to enrich his teaching, research, and advisory roles. His focus areas include innovation, entrepreneurship, venture building, and the impact of social networks on community development and organizational performance.

Chon Phung received his dual bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Austin, an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a PhD in General Management from SMU.
