Singapore-based Simon Cooper is a senior financier with 35 years' experience in global banking. He was most recently chief executive of Standard Chartered's global wholesale and investment banking division - serving leading multinationals, mid-size companies and financial institutions across more than 50 countries - and CEO of the Group's businesses across Europe and the Americas. He previously spent more than 20 years at HSBC, where he variously led the bank's global Commercial Banking division, its Middle East and North Africa operations, and its corporate and investment banking business in Singapore.
A strong believer in the value of diversity, Simon chaired Standard Chartered's Global Diversity & Inclusion Council. Following the Covid-19 outbreak, he was instrumental in Standard Chartered's commitment to provide US$1bn of financing on a non-profit basis to companies across the bank's network that provide equipment and services on the frontline fight against the virus.
In 2023, he orchestrated the bank joining The Earthshot Prize' Global Alliance as a Founding Partner.
