In an interview with MoneyFM, SMU Assistant Professor of Strategy & Entrepreneurship (Education) and Academic Director of Accreditation Terence Fan said the Land Transport Authority's (LTA) Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) hikes are data-driven, aiming to ease congestion depending on commuters’ travel time, while also highlighting that the increase would be gradual and measured. He also discussed that LTA’s perspective is to adjust ERP charges where the amount of traffic is slower than what is expected. Asst Prof Fan explained that the LTA uses the ERP rates as a price signal to monitor the actual volume of travel.
