Commenting on China and the European Union (EU) resolving their trade disputes, SMU Associate Professor of Finance Fu Fangjian stressed that, despite persistent trade conflicts, a full-scale trade war is unlikely, since “money issues can be negotiated,” and that both sides are expected to make partial concessions by October. He added that there are structural contradictions in China-EU trade and economic relations, making it difficult to eliminate the trade imbalance in the short term.
