For Nirav Nandish Shah (SMU Class of 2009), ice-cream is a long way from his childhood ambitions. He had thought that he would break into Bollywood or end up in Investment Banking after graduating from SMU with a degree in quantitative finance, however, today, Nirav’s work as Unilever’s Product Group Supply Chain Planning Manager in Refreshments (Southeast Asia and Australia) requires him to ensure the smooth delivery of Unilever’s ice-cream and tea products from factories to the store shelves, without compromising on Unilever standards.
While at SMU, Nirav was invited to an event by the Anglo-Dutch multinational consumer goods company, which owns over 400 brands. The Unilever Future Leaders Programme and the prospect of being exposed to various geographies, business units and supply chain roles piqued his interest. When he received two jobs offers from Unilever and a bank he had applied to, the choice was obvious.
For Nirav, his passion for the job goes beyond the sweet perks. “I do it because I really love it,” he said.
