For his contribution to inter-organisational research, Lee Kong Chian Professor of Marketing Nirmalya Kumar has been given a lifetime award by the American Marketing Association.
In May, Professor Kumar was named the 2023 Lifetime Award Winner by the association's Interorganizational Special Interest Group (IOSIG).
IOSIG was impressed with the multiple dimensions of Professor Kumar's contribution to inter-organisational research and cited his many publications in premier academic journals on inter-organisational issues that have garnered over 27,000 citations on Google Scholar. These include publications such as the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Marketing Research, and the Academy of Management Journal.
The committee was also impressed by the many Harvard Business Review publications and the impactful books he has written on the practice of marketing. Many of these books, such as Marketing as Strategy and Private Label Strategy, have inter-organisational elements, thought-provoking observations, and astute advice for executives.
Professor Kumar will receive the award in August in San Francisco.
This is not the first major award he has received from the American Marketing Association. In 2021, he was given the association’s Vijay Mahajan award for lifetime contribution to marketing strategy research.
