The SMU Presidential Early Career Professorship

SMU invites outstanding early career academics to join us as tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professors under our new Presidential Early Career Professorship (SMU-PEP) scheme.

We welcome applicants whose research aligns with SMU’s strategic priorities in Digital Transformation, Sustainable Living, and Growth in Asia, and especially encourage scholars addressing challenges in ageing societies, sustainable cities, and resilient workforces. Exceptional candidates in other fields are also invited to apply.

WHAT DOES IT OFFER?

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

  • Candidates should have earned a PhD (or equivalent) within the past 6 years (or are awaiting formal graduation), with an excellent research track record and demonstrated potential for impactful, interdisciplinary contributions.
  • Excellent track-record of research achievements, especially in interdisciplinary research, and demonstrable potential to make significant future contributions of high impact.

  • a cover letter outlining their teaching experience, research interests, and key achievements,
  • a curriculum vitae, and
  • samples of their research.
