ABOUT THE SWISS INSTITUTE OF BANKING AND FINANCE (sbf-HSG)

The Swiss Institute of Banking and Finance (sbf-HSG) is a centre of competence for research and teaching at HSG University of St.Gallen with a fine reputation for banking, corporate finance and capital markets research in Switzerland.

The institute combines the six chairs of Professors Ammann, Brown, Füss, Schmid, Ranaldo, and Söderlind, all members of the School of Finance, and their core areas of research and teaching are Investment Management, Asset Pricing, Derivatives, Corporate Finance, Real Estate Finance, Systemic Risk and Banking.

Besides teaching and offering executive education for finance professionals, the sbf-HSG advise commercial banks, central banks, financial institutions and international organisations.


ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY OF ST. GALLEN (HSG)

The University of St. Gallen is a research university located in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Established in 1898, it is specialized in the fields of Business Administration, Economics, Law, and International Affairs. The University of St. Gallen is also known as HSG, which is an abbreviation of its former German name Handels-Hochschule St. Gallen.

The University of St. Gallen is a member of the CEMS and APSIA networks. It is EQUIS and AACSB accredited.

Despite being one of the smallest universities in Switzerland, the University of St. Gallen has Switzerland's largest faculty for business administration.According to the Financial Times, the University of St. Gallen ranks 4th among business schools in Europe and is one of the leading business schools in the world. For the past four years, the Financial Times ranked the University of St. Gallen's Master in Strategy and International Management (SIM) 1st worldwide, while its Master's program in Finance (MBF) was ranked 6th worldwide in 2014.

FACULTY

Professor Stefan Morkötter is the Managing Director and Head of the St. Gallen Institute of Management in Asia. His research areas include financial intermediation, wealth management, and private equity. Stefan earned his PhD in Finance at the University of St.Gallen with his studies also leading him to the Tuck School of Business as well as to the University of Oxford.

Professor Manuel Ammann is Full Professor of Finance at the University of St. Gallen, Dean of the School of Finance, and also Director of the Swiss Institute of Banking and Finance. his research areas include financial markets, derivative instruments, and portfolio management. Manuel is also a member of the Board of Directors of the St. Galler Kantonalbank and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Algofin AG.

Professor Thomas Markus Zellweger is Managing Director of the SME Institute and the Center for Family Business at the University of St. Gallen, where he is also Full Professor of Family Business and Entrepreneurship. Aside from his experience in Investment Banking in derivatives, he was also a Research Fellow at Babson College, and a Visiting Professor with universities in Canada and Germany.
