Dean's Fellows

TERMS OF REFERENCE

The purpose of the Dean’s Fellows is to advise the Dean of the School and act as a sounding board for strategic matters. Dean’s Fellows enable the school to enhance the quality of its education, research and community engagement efforts and to become even more distinctive, influential, and relevant to all its stakeholders.

Dean’s Fellows will provide advice and recommend lines of action based on strategic and operations information received from the School’s management team. Such advice and recommendations contribute to a School’s thinking about policy, procedure or strategy but the final responsibility of directions, strategy, policy and procedure lie with the management of the School.

Role of the Dean's Fellows

Overall Strategy & Direction

• To provide advice and feedback on the school’s ongoing programmes, activities, strategies and future plans. These include areas such as fund raising, post-graduate recruitment, student placements, internships, scholarships, curriculum review and other related areas.
• To provide insights on emerging trends relevant to the school’s programmes and activities based on vantage points of their own organizational experiences and market knowledge.

Networks & Relationships

• To assist with the development and maintenance of strategic relationships and networks with business, government and the community – local and international and to help with securing student projects, internship and employment opportunities.
• To generate opportunities for research and other forms of collaborative work between faculty members, business and government entities.
• To generate opportunities for collaborating on research and other forms of joint innovation initiatives
• To be an advocate for the school and to enhance the interests of school, its students and alumni.
• To mentor and coach students across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for careers in business, and possibly help with placements if and when possible.

Philanthropy

• To help, where appropriate, with securing resources for scholarships, awards and prizes to acknowledge outstanding and/or innovative efforts of students and faculty, and significant contributions and financial support that will strengthen the school’s foundation for long-term sustainability.

Ambassadorial

• To be an advocate for the school, enhance the school’s interests and help enhance awareness of its programmes and initiatives.
