Mindfulness-Based Strategic Awareness Training – Teacher Training (MBSAT-TT)
Fostering and Supporting Skillful Decision Making for Work and Private Life!
Introduction
Mindfulness-Based Strategic Awareness Training (MBSAT) is a secular, contemporary training method to enhance personal resources and enable skillful and wise decision making at work and in personal matters. It also enhances your self-management and leadership skills to increase performance, wellbeing and lasting fulfillment. It is grounded in ancient mindfulness techniques and adjusted to today’s challenges and needs while maintaining depth and rigor.
MBSAT has gained international recognition from experts and reputable institutions. In early 2019 the government of Singapore included MBSAT in an official scholarship program for skill-building and started to grant funding of 90 % of tuition for participation in MBSAT courses. Among the internationally renowned experts who have endorsed MBSAT as a key program for personal advancement in the workplace and in private life are luminaries such as Mark Williams, longtime director of the Oxford Centre of Mindfulness OCM and Emeritus Professor of Clinical Psychology, University of Oxford, as well as Steve Hickman, Director of the San Diego Center for Mindfulness and Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Preventive Medicine at University of California (please see his testimonial below).
The program draws from several disciplines such as Secular Mindfulness practices, Neuroscience, Positive Psychology, Data Science, Neuroscience, Behavioral Finance, Behavioral Strategy and System Dynamics and is recognized by experts in these fields.
The MBSAT manual (Wiley 2017) allows for an in-depth understanding of the background and the practices of the MBSAT program with practical guidelines and instructions. For persons interested in teaching it provides a complete training program organized into 8 training sessions
A MBSAT workbook is going to be published in the first part of 2023. It is an important extension and complement of the first MBSAT book that remains nevertheless valid, especially as manual for MBSAT teachers. What the Workbook provides is a new scientific foundation starting from the premise that our brains are a predicting organ, actively inferring rather than reacting to external stimuli and constantly trying to manage free energy. This confirms the focus of the first MBSAT book on decision making as each act of anticipation is a decision based on prior data or knowledge. From this perspective the Workbook offers new ways to enable transformation as it analyses the brain’s functioning and pinpoints the changes necessary to loosen patterns and beliefs that influence decision making. Two methodological pillars of the first MBSAT book remain identical, however: calming the mind as a pre-condition to becoming aware and the need to practice consistently to foster new neuronal pathways in our brain.
In view of the public and organizational interest and demand for secular mindfulness in private and professional/corporate contexts, it is imperative to develop competent and dedicated teachers to open the MBSAT program to more participants in search of personal growth and sustainable wellbeing on a personal and organizational level. It is in this spirit that the MBSAT Teacher Training has been launched in 2018. Since then a sizeable body of qualified teachers has developed and continues to grow. On the website mbsat.com you find information on the profile of teachers and other background information that could be useful.

Course Dates & Time
Currently, we're diligently working behind the scenes to prepare for our next intake. In the meantime, feel free to explore our website to learn more.
To achieve the status of “Certified MBSAT Teacher” you need to teach in addition at least two regular 8-sessions MBSAT courses and submit your teaching materials for review. Only upon successful review will you be certified. This rigorous process ensures that you will be well-prepared and can build a successful and financially viable teaching practice of your own.
Location & Accommodation
If the course is taking place in Singapore, participants joining onsite from outside of Singapore are responsible for making and paying for their own travel arrangements. However, Mindfulness Initiative @ SMU will provide information on location and accommodation options close to SMU closer to the date for confirmed participants. The module is not residential. That means participants living in Singapore can return home at the conclusion of the day and join again the next morning.

The MBSAT Teacher Training prepares you to become a highly qualified teacher who can attract a sizeable portion of the increasingly competitive market of training, education and consulting. Experience shows that by offering 2-3 MBSAT courses to 10-15 participants you can recover the tuition detailed below. In contrast to other training programs there are no royalties to pay.
We will advise on the fees when our new intake is opened.
Certification
The MBSAT teacher certification fee is SGD$1,000 and is only payable for those participants who decide to get certified and at the time of submitting their application for certification. The fee is non-refundable. Should the applicant not get certified (due to a deficient application), the fee includes one repeat submission (second attempt) of revised materials. Should the applicant not get certified at the second attempt, another certification fee will have to be paid for the next attempt.
