Mindfulness-Based Strategic Awareness Training (MBSAT)

Workplace Decision Making

  • The course helps you to navigate the workplace and make decisions skillfully
  • It builds on research in various academic area such as positive psychology, behavioral economics, and computational neuroscience
  • The course also teaches formal and informal mindfulness techniques to improving strategic awareness of yourself and your environment, decision-making, leadership, and flourishing

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)Well-Being
  • This course teaches you a new way to approach life’s stressors and everyday challenges through formal and informal mindfulness practices
  • You will learn how to become more aware of the stressors in your life; and develop thinking styles, behaviours, and habits for stress reduction and prevention

8 weeks,
2.5 hour lesson each week

Mindful Self-CompassionWell-Being
  • This program is designed to cultivate self-compassion skill where it teaches core principles/practices that enable participants to respond to difficult moments
  • These values include kindness, care and understanding (this course is primarily a compassion training program rather than mindfulness training)

2.75 - 3 hour lesson each week

SkillsFuture Credit Eligible:

The above programmes are approved for claim under the WDA SkillsFuture Credit subsidy scheme subject to all eligibility criteria being met. Click here for more details. If you would like to use SkillsFuture Credit to pay for the course, please contact us at mindfulness@smu.edu.sg. Reduced fees are available for SMU students, alumni, staff, and faculty, and for graduates of our mindfulness courses.

Refund Policy:

All cancellations must be received in writing via email to mindfulness@smu.edu.sg before the start of the first session of the course. A refund of the course fee minus administrative charges of $50 will be given if the cancellation is received in writing at the latest four days (96 hours) before the start of the first course session (not including any orientation session). No refunds will be given for cancellations later than four days (96 hours) before the start of the first course session. Processing time of the refund of course fees minus administrative charges would take 6 to 8 weeks. Participants may withdraw from a course at any time. In the case of withdrawal, no refund and no certificate of completion will be given. Sometimes, participants request transfer to a later course or to take specific sessions in a later course. Such arrangements are complicated, partly because most of our courses are fully booked. Therefore, consideration of such requests will be at our sole discretion and participants may not transfer into or take specific sessions during the next course or any later courses unless with our explicit permission.

Research Participation:

Mindfulness Initiative @ SMU faculty are actively engaged in various research projects on mindfulness. As a course participant, you may be invited to participate in research. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, research participation is not required to sign up for a course. However, participating in available research would certainly be greatly appreciated. Moreover, partial course fee refunds, depending on the intensity of the research, will often be offered. All research will have been reviewed and approved by SMU’s Institutional Review Board.
